One Nation Under God

ONE NATION DIVIDED UNDER GOD

Read the NYT times section from last weekend “The America We Need”-and realize that whatever the Virtus means in the end, right now it is revealing how abusive the “normal” was for people of color, the aged, the sick and the working poor.

It is the same poor who we were told wanted to keep their own job related health insurance, till they lost their job. The poor who we are told are losing jobs to new immigrants until we wake up to realizing that the working poor are mostly new immigrants. The poor who Obama told us

“They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

If they are being left out, left behind, left for dead, and left for losers, then bitterness is a mild reaction, and guns or god might promise more to them than government. The Virus is a wake up call to how sick our system is, and how capitalism will sacrifice people for profit. Always has. Always will.

One quotable from the report worth repeating is:

If you want to see a map of the healthiest USA, you only have to look at the map of the wealthiest USA. Poor health is not the poor who happen not to be healthy, it is the sickness called poverty. A vaccine will not cure that.
