The election story always gets written to appear the Candidates are the bold Agents of Change..Hillary lost….Trump won…and the aftermath presumes the winner won because of what he and his campaign did…and the loser lost because she did not do this or that. This seems so self serving and just plain wrong.
The bold agents of elections ..in democracies at least…are the “we the people” people who voted. The voters win…even if they lose. And Candidates get selected or not. Its not a beauty contest. Its allowing the voice of the people to prevail. Candidates do not control voters ..even if they think they do. Voters control Candidates fates.
If people are angry enough they will vote in a mad moment for a monkey or a Mussolini …not because he is fit but because they know he is unfit, the status quo be dammed. A vote is a powerful weapon of revenge. But you never admit that.
You tell pollsters a pack of lies before election day…and you make up excuses after in exit polls … because you know pollsters want to be serious and can’t measure irony. You vote for who you vote for. None of their business.
Exit poll says you said it was the economy but seriously. You liked Trumps hair…exit polls say you thought FBI did her in… but honesty it was because you hated Hillary shouting. Go figure. Votes are as trivial as they are profound, sound and unsound.
